YOUR FRIENDS is an Oslo based graphic design studio, founded by Carl Gürgens and Henrik Fjeldberg. Plural is a creative studio based in Chicago. Founded in 2008 by Renata Graw, Christopher Kalis, Jeremiah Chiu and Eric Mika, we collaborate on a wide range of print, web, video, textile and music projects.

Imagino que a maioria das pessoas que trabalham com design são como eu e trabalham escutando música sempre que possível. Espero que a maioria não seja como eu e tenha um gosto musical um pouco mais estável e um bom senso maior. Mas vamos ao que interessa.

Imagine que você tem um prazo apertado para aquele projeto legal que você estava querendo fazer e bla bla bla. Quais seriam os 3 discos que você colocaria para tocar para fazer sua criatividade começar a te encher de idéias?

Eu sei que a pergunta é complicada mas pense ai e use os charts do last.fm ou algo assim para te ajudar. Usei o last.fm e sai com esses três discos abaixo.

We decided to have a sleeve close to the DVD format. After some tests, we agreed on 3 layers of cardboard with a big hole to see the CD, an opening on right side where you drag the CD and a small hole on the back side (this hole matches perfect with center of the CD, but is just for aesthetics). We added some felt where you put the CD which comes in red or grey.

For the graphics, the musicians wanted something without 90º angles and we (at the label) wanted something with a lot of detail, a reminder of their music. A friend – Camille, makes etchings and was working on feathers… We decided to work with her. It was going to be a bit too though to make 500 + promos copies only by etching, so we decided to screen print her work instead. We used white and red or grey for the front (it depend of the felt) and black + silver for the back.
